Best LAN Games

The best idea for a really cool get together is to have a LAN Party. Invite some friends over with their laptops and PCs and have fun with these fun and awesome games compatible on any PC and you'll be having the best get together with alot of fun, with all this excitingy (long) game list. Also I'll be giving some tips for real fun gaming with your friends. Read on.

Read below the extremely looooong list of local and LAN games for all your friends and their laptops.

First-Person Shooters:

These types of games can give real fun for a large group of people. They are really fun especially the team
battle, where you can make one team sit in a different room then your own team, so team chat is more easier, and your team can yell and scream at each other as much as they want. You may need some patches for some of the following. Check it out:

  1. Call of Duty Series: The best being COD MW1, COD World at War, COD 1 and 2 (for older/wooden PCs).
  2. Counter-Strike Series: Counter-Strike 1.6 for fun mods and no lag, and Counter-Strike Source for even more fun.
  3. Quake Series: I guess the whole series was made for this.
  4. Halo Series:  I played Halo 1 (Combat Evolved) myself, it doesn't have MUCH lag and has almost identical gameplay to the later versions.
  5. Brink: A very good game built for LAN games.
  6. Far Cry Series: I played Far Cry 2, and it has a built-in LAN function, and is pretty awesome (better than Far Cry 3).
  7. Battlefield Series: Battlefield 2 (don't confuse it with Bad Company 2) and Battlefield 1942 were really good WWII games.
  8. Medal of Honor Series: Mostly underrated than COD because of private/racial matters. But a very good series with MOHA, and MOH Warfighter.
  9. Borderlands Series: Borderlands 1 and 2 are EXTREMELY awesome, with futuristic guns and gameplay. A necessary play.

Strategy Games:

Sitting for hours and feel bored? No problem! Play these low spec games with your friends and battle for hours using tactical gameplay and intelligence. Most of these games also support very fun mods that enhance the game even more:
  1. Age of Empires Series: A very classical game, played for over 20 years, very low spec yet very exciting at the same time.
  2. Minecraft: A hit game that almost everyone plays because of its fun and cool gameplay and low spec capability (although high-graphics packs can be enabled).
  3. Civilization Series: Also a very good strategy game.
  4. Command and Conquer Series: Generals Zero Hour and Red Alert were very good games.
  5. World of Warcraft: A cracked version is necessary but nevertheless a great game played in all arcades.
  6. Warcraft 3: A good game with good mods for LAN gameplay.
  7. Defense of the Ancients: DOTA 1 and 2 are really classical games.

Local (Same PC) Games:

Your friends didn’t bring their laptops but only a controller each? No problem! You can make tournaments on different PCs and battle your way to the top. Up to 4 players can play on each PC with each of the following games:
  1. FIFA Series: Almost all FIFA games support local 4-5 players (including keyboard) gameplay. I currently played FIFA 13 with 3 friends and it was awesome.
  2. Street Fighter Series: The latest ones, SF IV and V, and also Street Fighter X Tekken (an excellent game) give 2 player local and also 4 player scramble battle (a type of Team Deathmatch).
  3. Tekken 3: A very good game similar to the later versions, but the last one to be released on PC (you can use emulators to get the latest versions).
  4. LEGO Games: Very classical, funny, and adventurous series. I used to play LEGO Star Wars II on local with my brother and it was very fun (brought back memories of me playing on the PS2).
  5. Mortal Kombat Series: Almost ALL of them support at least 2 player local on the same keyboard. Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition up to 4 players on the same PC, like an Xbox lobby.
  6. Left 4 Dead Series: I searched online years ago and found that you can play 2 player local split-screen by simply entering a code in L4D 1. But you need an Xbox controller (or just use an Xbox controller emulator for your standard gamepad).
  7. Cricket 2007: Being a cricket fan, you must have played this game (I think it is the only one released on PC). It features 4 player local yet the gameplay is TOO easy.
  8. 4x4: A very old game yet still played.
  9. Split/Second: A game released by Disney with gameplay similar to Mario Karts but with good graphics and intensive gameplay.
  10. Crash Time Series: An amateur game released by university students became famous due to its awesome graphics and cool split-screen gameplay. Crash Time 4 and 5 are the best.
